Spray adhesive INFUTAC (clear) 500 ml (Clearance item)

INFUTAC Spray Adhesive – Clearance Item

Clearance item due to a coarser spray pattern – reduced by 42 %

This high-strength Diatex spray adhesive is suitable for fixing and bonding reinforcement materials, breather fabrics, foams and lightweight core materials over larger surface areas.

Note regarding this clearance item:
The spray pattern of this batch is coarser than usual. The adhesive is therefore not recommended for ultra-thin or particularly fine fixation of fabrics and reinforcements. For applications requiring a fine, even spray mist, a regular spray adhesive, e.g. Spray adhesive AEROFIX 3, should be used instead.

The spray adhesive remains suitable for larger-area bonding and for applications where a coarser adhesive application is not critical.

  • Adjustable spray head
  • Colourless and therefore also suitable for applications where the surface remains visible
  • The spray nozzle cannot become clogged
  • Suitable for vacuum infusion, vacuum bagging and RTM
  • Good fixation with larger-area adhesive application
  • Securely bonds fabrics and reinforcements to core materials
  • When correctly dosed, only a minor influence on the mechanical properties of the resin system
  • Low shrinkage during curing
  • Fast adhesion

For bonding and stabilising various materials:

  • Plastics
  • Reinforcement fabrics and non-crimp fabrics
  • Breather fabrics
  • Foams
  • Lightweight wood (e.g. balsa)

INFUTAC is used for infusion, vacuum bagging and RTM processes. It becomes part of the polymer matrix and, when correctly applied, does not affect the curing process of vinyl ester, polyester or epoxy resins.

Coverage per can: approx. 8–12 m²
Actual coverage may vary due to the coarser spray pattern and depending on the application.

Important note

Polychloroprene-based spray adhesives such as INFUTAC and Aerofix are generally less suitable for fixing the first fibre layer in the mould directly onto the release agent. Spray adhesives are contact adhesives and adhere very well even to surfaces treated with release agents. This applies regardless of whether carnauba and synthetic waxes or PVA release films are used. The adhesion is not caused by solvents in the spray adhesive, but by the viscoelastic adhesive bond.

Processing with epoxy resins

Polychloroprene dissolves completely only in combination with resins based on polyester, vinyl ester, methyl methacrylate, etc. When used with epoxy resins, it is assumed that the adhesive – provided that it has not been over-applied and therefore does not significantly reduce the permeability of the dry fibre reinforcements – has only a relatively minor influence on the subsequent mechanical properties.

This corresponds to the current state of the art and means: When used correctly, the products are also compatible with epoxy resins.

Due to the coarser spray pattern of this clearance item, particular care should be taken to apply the adhesive sparingly.

Vacuum infusion

In vacuum infusion, a surface coat (e.g. UP gelcoat or suitable 2-component coatings) is typically applied to the mould first, followed by the laminate lay-up. This prevents the spray adhesive from adhering directly to the mould surface.

Without a surface coat, demoulding of the component is not only more difficult, but spray adhesive will also remain directly on the surface and must be carefully removed before any subsequent painting or coating process.
