Epoxy Base Set MINI PLUS – Epoxy Resin L + Hardener L (40 min)

Epoxy Base Set MINI PLUS – Epoxy Resin L + Hardener L (40 min)

The Epoxy Basic Set MINI PLUS is based on the proven Epoxy Resin L with Hardener L and provides an extended basic equipment package for laminating, bonding and repair work in fibre-reinforced composite applications. In addition to the low-viscosity epoxy resin system, the set contains selected processing and laminating accessories, making it particularly suitable for getting started with epoxy resin processing as well as for smaller projects, repairs and trials.

The included Epoxy Resin L + Hardener L is one of the most widely used laminating and bonding resin systems in the R&G product range and is used for glass fibre, carbon fibre and aramid fibre applications. The solvent- and filler-free epoxy resin is free from nonylphenol and DETA. Its low surface tension provides reliable adhesion to different substrates with low curing shrinkage.

In addition to the epoxy resin system, the MINI PLUS set contains 5-minute epoxy for fast bonding and fixing work as well as a 130 g/m² glass fabric tape for smaller laminating jobs, reinforcements and repairs. Mixing cups, wooden stirring sticks and brushes allow the supplied resin systems to be processed directly.

Epoxy Resin L with Hardener L achieves mechanical properties comparable to laminating resin systems used in aircraft construction. It is suitable both for structurally loaded laminate applications and for bonding wood, metal and Styrofoam®.

Set contents

1 × Epoxy Resin L + Hardener L (40 min), working pack 280 g
1 × 5-minute epoxy, working pack 100 g
1 × Glass fabric tape 130 g/m² (silane, PW), 50 mm, roll 10 ml
1 × Wooden mixing spatulas (93 × 10 × 2 mm), pack of 50 pieces
1 × Flat brush (1"), pack of 6 pieces
1 × Cardboard mixing cups 300 ml (Ø 90/70 mm, H 70 mm), pack of 5 pieces

Working time of the epoxy resin system

The working time is approx. 40 minutes for a 100 g batch at a processing temperature of 20 °C. This enables controlled processing in manual and vacuum-assisted processes.

Mixing ratio Epoxy Resin L : Hardener L

100 : 40 parts by weight Epoxy Resin L : Hardener L
100 : 45 parts by volume Epoxy Resin L : Hardener L

Curing and temperature resistance

Curing time at 23 °C: approx. 24 hours
Elevated-temperature curing: optional
Heat deflection temperature: approx. 70 °C
Maximum heat deflection temperature: up to approx. 80 °C with additional post-curing for 15 hours at 60 °C

Processing

The epoxy resin system is suitable for hand laminating, pressure and vacuum impregnation, pressing and filament winding processes.

Thanks to the glass fabric tape included in the set, the basic equipment can already be used for smaller GRP laminates, local reinforcements and repairs. The additional 5-minute epoxy is particularly suitable for fast bonding, assembly and fixing work.

Mechanical properties (neat resin, cured)

Flexural strength (DIN EN ISO 178): 111 MPa
Flexural modulus (DIN EN ISO 178): 2950 MPa
Tensile strength (DIN EN ISO 527): 69 MPa
Compressive strength (DIN EN ISO 14126): 91 MPa
Hardness: Shore D 90
Elongation at break (DIN EN ISO 178): 5.9 %

Suitability for medical technology

A CYTOX assessment is available for the Epoxy Resin L + Hardener L resin system. The system is non-cytotoxic (not harmful to cells) and is therefore suitable for applications in medical technology. See additional information for details.
