Epoxy Resin C

Epoxy Resin C

Epoxy Resin C – high-viscosity, chemically resistant epoxy resin for laminating and coating applications

Epoxy Resin C is a high-viscosity, solvent-free and filler-free epoxy resin designed for chemically resistant coatings and technical laminating applications. The system is particularly suitable for GRP and composite components that are permanently exposed to aggressive media such as petrol (gasoline), diluted acids or alkalis.

Due to its increased viscosity, this epoxy resin is especially suitable for sag-resistant coatings and thicker laminate build-ups where controlled resin distribution is required.

Properties

  • Viscosity: approx. 7000–10000 mPa·s (at 25 °C)
  • Solvent-free and filler-free
  • High chemical resistance
  • Suitable for acid- and alkali-exposed applications
  • Good adhesion to properly prepared substrates
  • Cold curing – no external heat required

Typical applications

  • Chemically resistant epoxy coatings
  • Laminating resin for GRP components
  • Tank and vessel coatings
  • Spill containment and retention systems
  • Components exposed to petrol (gasoline) or alcohols
  • Industrial applications with chemical exposure

Chemical resistance

According to the resistance list, Epoxy Resin C provides good to very good resistance to numerous media, including:

  • Aromatics (e.g. petrol / gasoline)
  • Diluted acids
  • Diluted alkalis
  • Water
  • Alcohols

The actual resistance of the epoxy resin depends on concentration, temperature, exposure time, film thickness and full cure. For detailed information, refer to the resistance list in the R&G handbook or R&G WIKI.

Processing and technical data

Pot life: approx. 50 minutes
Mixing ratio:
100 : 60 by weight resin : Hardener C
100 : 70 by volume resin : Hardener C
Cure time: approx. 24 hours at room temperature
Curing: cold curing

Available pack sizes: 5 kg, 10 kg, 25 kg

Storage

The resin component may crystallise when stored below 18 °C. Crystallisation is a physical process and does not affect product quality. The epoxy resin can be fully restored by warming in a water bath or heating oven without loss of performance.

Hardener C must be ordered separately.
