Epoxy Resin MP Advanced + Hardener MP Advanced E

MP Advanced with MP Advanced E Hardener is a high-temperature epoxy laminating system developed primarily for composite tooling, mould construction and other applications requiring high thermal resistance. The system provides good fibre wet-out and excellent interlaminar adhesion and is suitable for both glass fibre and carbon fibre laminates.

The “E” stands for Extended and refers to the extended pot life of the hardener. This provides sufficient processing time for large multi-ply lay-ups, complex mould geometries and extensive tooling laminates.

Applications

The system is particularly suitable for the manufacture of heat-resistant composite tools and moulds using glass fibre or carbon fibre reinforcement. Typical applications include large moulds, tooling laminates and prepreg tooling.

The extended pot life is especially advantageous for large multi-layer lay-ups and complex tooling structures, where sufficient time is required for accurate fibre placement, impregnation and consolidation.

Processing

Thoroughly mix resin and hardener at the specified ratio of 100 : 40 parts by weight. During lay-up, ensure that each reinforcement layer is fully impregnated.

The recommended processing temperature is 18–25 °C. Post-curing is required to achieve the final mechanical and thermal properties of the system.

Recommended post-cure schedule

To achieve the specified mechanical and thermal properties, the following post-cure schedule is recommended:

• 24 h at room temperature
• 12 h at 40 °C
• 2 h at 80 °C
• 2 h at 100 °C
• 2 h at 120 °C
• 2 h at 140 °C
• 2 h at 160 °C
• 2 h at 180 °C
• 12 h at 200 °C
• then allow to cool slowly to room temperature

Storage

Store in the original, properly sealed containers in a dry place. Reseal partially emptied containers immediately after use. Observe the storage temperatures specified in the relevant safety data sheets.

Safety and handling

Avoid contact of uncured resin and hardener with skin, eyes, food and food-contact utensils. Wear suitable protective gloves and eye protection and ensure adequate ventilation of the working area.

Clean contaminated skin with soap and warm water. Do not use solvents for skin cleaning. Further information is provided in the safety data sheets for the individual components.
