Transparent Colours
DEKA Transparent Colours for transparent colouring of epoxy and polyester resins.
The liquid, highly concentrated colours produce clear, translucent shades without masking the characteristic transparent appearance of the resin. Colour intensity can be adjusted by varying the amount added.
DEKA Transparent Colours
DEKA Transparent Colours are suitable for colouring transparent epoxy and polyester laminating and casting resins. Depending on the amount added, effects range from subtle tinting to strong, yet still transparent colours. This makes it possible to create glass-like colour effects in clear casting resins.
Typical applications include transparent castings, decorative moulded parts, jewellery, model making, embedding applications and coloured resin castings.
Addition rate
As a guideline, we recommend an addition of approx. 1–3%, based on the amount of resin. Start with a small quantity and gradually increase the amount until the desired colour intensity is achieved.
The final colour effect does not depend solely on the amount added. Important factors include:
- the selected colour,
- the inherent colour and transparency of the resin system,
- the layer or casting thickness,
- the substrate or background, and
- the desired colour intensity.
At the same addition rate, a thin layer of resin will appear considerably lighter than a casting several centimetres thick. Likewise, an epoxy resin with a slight yellow inherent colour can influence the final shade. For larger components or casting volumes in particular, we therefore recommend carrying out a small preliminary test.
Processing
Stir the transparent colour thoroughly before use and then mix it evenly into the resin component. Afterwards, process the resin-hardener system according to the specified mixing ratio. For more intense colours, determine the required quantity of colour in advance wherever possible so that several batches can be coloured as consistently as possible.

- suitable for glass-like transparent colour effects
Note on Antique White:
With Antique White, the white pigment contained in the colour may settle at the bottom of the bottle during storage. This is normal. Stir thoroughly before use; shaking alone may not be sufficient to fully reincorporate the settled pigment.
Note on colour representation:
The colour samples shown are intended solely to illustrate the respective colour effect and transparency and should not be regarded as a binding representation of the final result. The actual colour effect may be influenced in particular by the amount of colour added, the inherent colour and transparency of the resin used, the layer or casting thickness, the substrate or background and the lighting conditions. Slight batch-related variations in colour shade may also occur. In addition, colours displayed on screens may differ from the actual colour depending on the monitor, display and device settings. For applications where a specific shade or highly reproducible colour effect is required, we recommend carrying out a preliminary test using the intended resin and under conditions as close as possible to the final application.
