15 Minute Epoxy (Resin)

Resin component for 15-Minute Epoxy – for fast, reliable bonding of different materials.
Matching resin component for the fast-curing, solvent-free and filler-free two-component epoxy adhesive 15-Minute Epoxy. When combined with the corresponding hardener component, the adhesive system has a mixing ratio of 1 : 1 and a working time of 15–20 minutes.

Properties and Applications

The resin component is intended for use with the corresponding hardener component of 15-Minute Epoxy. The mixed adhesive has a honey-like, viscous consistency, allowing controlled application and careful positioning of components.

The epoxy adhesive is suitable for bonding GRP, CFRP, metal, wood, stone, suitable rigid foams and numerous plastics. Typical applications include assembly and repair work in model making, mould making and on composite components. Once fully cured, the tough-hard adhesive bond can be sanded.

Processing

Thoroughly mix the resin component only with the designated hardener component at the specified mixing ratio of 1 : 1. Follow the product-specific dosing instructions by weight or volume.

The bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free from grease, dust and release agents. Smooth surfaces can be abraded where appropriate. For GRP and CFRP laminates, bonding surfaces prepared using suitable peel ply are also possible.

Apply the mixed adhesive evenly, join and align the components, and secure them against movement during curing. The reaction rate depends on temperature and the quantity mixed. Larger batches may generate more heat due to the exothermic reaction and consequently cure faster.

Important Application Notes

  • Compatibility: Use only with the corresponding hardener component of 15-Minute Epoxy. The resin component cannot be used as an adhesive on its own.
  • Non-sag properties: The limited non-sag properties of the mixed adhesive must be taken into account when bonding larger gaps or vertical surfaces.
  • Difficult-to-bond plastics: PE, PP and PTFE generally cannot be bonded reliably without special surface treatment.
  • UV resistance: Prolonged UV exposure and natural ageing may cause the cured adhesive bond to yellow or darken.
