The R&G aluminium deaeration roller for edges is a specialised laminating tool for areas that are difficult or impossible to reach effectively with conventional wider rollers. Its narrow 8 mm roller is particularly useful for internal corners, grooves, beads, edges and narrow mould sections.
During hand laminating, the roller helps press the wet reinforcement firmly into the mould contour and work trapped air out of critical areas. This is especially important in corners and recessed sections, where glass fibre reinforcements tend to bridge across the contour instead of lying fully against the mould surface.
The 40 mm roller diameter provides good rolling action while the narrow contact area allows pressure to be applied precisely where it is needed. This makes the tool particularly suitable for working glass fibre mats and glass fabrics into local details and transitions.
The roller is made from aluminium and is solvent-resistant, making it a durable tool for regular use in composite workshops.

When is this roller particularly useful?
Wide deaeration rollers are efficient on open surfaces but cannot adequately reach narrow corners, grooves or recessed contours. This narrow edge roller is designed specifically for these areas and allows the reinforcement to be worked accurately into the mould geometry.
Practical tip:
Pay particular attention to internal corners and grooves before additional reinforcement layers are applied. Work the fully wetted reinforcement carefully into the contour using several passes with moderate pressure. Avoid forcing the fibres abruptly into a tight radius, as this can cause distortion or local displacement of the reinforcement.
