Thickening agent C (for KDSV Silicone rubber)

Thickening Additive KDSV-C allows the viscosity of R&G KDSV silicone rubbers to be adjusted from slightly thickened to a non-sag consistency. An addition of only 0.5–2 wt.% prevents the silicone from running on vertical surfaces, making it ideal for producing economical brush-on moulds.

Thickening Additive KDSV-C increases the viscosity of condensation-curing silicone rubbers. The amount added can be adjusted to achieve the consistency required for the application.
Even small additions are sufficient to convert pourable silicone into a thixotropic material. The silicone remains in place on vertical or inclined surfaces and can be applied in thicker layers without sagging.
This makes KDSV-C particularly suitable for producing brush-on moulds. The silicone stays where it is applied, helping to reduce material consumption while making the desired layer thickness easier to achieve.
Typical Applications
KDSV-C is used whenever condensation-curing silicone rubbers are applied to vertical, inclined or complex surfaces. Typical applications include brush-on moulds, negative moulds and repairs to silicone moulds.

Processing
Add the thickening additive to the silicone rubber before adding the curing agent. The required amount depends on the initial viscosity and the desired degree of thixotropy.
Important: KDSV-C is intended exclusively for condensation-curing silicone rubbers. Do not use with addition-curing silicone systems.
When is this product the right choice?
KDSV-C is recommended whenever liquid KDSV silicone rubber needs to remain in place on vertical or complex surfaces. For casting moulds, flat surfaces or applications where good flow is required, the additive is generally not necessary.
