Carbon fabric 200 g/m² (style 450-5 Aero, plain weave), width 100 cm

Style 450-5 Aero is manufactured from high-strength carbon fibres to specification WL 8.3611 and complies with aerospace fabric specification DIN 65147 / WL 8.3509.80. The balanced plain weave with 5 ends/cm in both warp and weft provides good resistance to yarn displacement and facilitates accurate fibre alignment during laminate lay-up.

Properties and processing

The frequent yarn interlacings of the plain weave provide comparatively good resistance to yarn displacement. Fibre alignment remains easy to control during cutting, positioning and multi-ply lay-ups. The balanced warp and weft count supports reinforcement in both principal fibre directions.

Epoxy laminating resin systems with good fibre wet-out characteristics are suitable for high-quality CFRP laminates. Ensure complete impregnation and careful air removal. The fabric is particularly well suited to flat and gently curved parts. Drapability is more limited than with twill fabrics around tight radii and complex double-curved surfaces.

Aerospace applications additionally require compliance with the specified resin systems, manufacturing processes and component approvals. Conformity with a material specification does not itself constitute approval of the finished component.
