Bagging film (PO150 XD2) 80 my, 350 cm
  • The image shows a close-up of a rectangular container lined with a gray material and a white fabric-like layer inside. A tube is connected to the container at one end. The background has some text partially visible, with the word 'Fast' discernible.
  • The image shows layers of materials used in vacuum bagging, labeled in German and English. From top to bottom: Vacuum film, non woven absorber, perforated film, peel ply fabric, and fiber reinforcement. A nozzle is inserted in the vacuum film.
A roll of white paper or fabric partially unrolled, showing the cylindrical core.

Bagging film (PO150 XD2) 80 my, 350 cm

High-stretch polyolefine-copolymer film developed specifically for complex moulds and re-entrant angles.
Self-releasing
(epoxy resins, phenolic resin) in principle reusable.

Technical data:

  • Max. temperature: 145 °C
  • Max. pressure: 4 bar
  • Thickness: 80 µm
  • Width: 175 cm
  • Elongation at break: > 900 %
  • Weight: 74 g/m²
  • Non-resistant to styrene
  • Colour: Transparent

Application:
Vacuum bagging (not suitable for vacuum infusion. See Wiki for more information).
With this film, elasticity is the limiting factor, which is why preliminary tests under subsequent process conditions are recommended.

Two properties are primarily relevant for films:
Elastic deformation is reversible and describes how much the film can stretch before returning to its original state.
Plastic deformation cannot be reversed and describes how much the film can stretch until it finally tears.

The specification > 900 % refers to both elastic and plastic stretching (the latter being dominant). If the film is overstretched, it cannot recover to its original state. The picture here in the store shows it quite well. In the area of the fingers, the foil is already strongly plastically deformed, while it is still elastically stretched in the peripheral areas around the frame. The counterpart to this would be an elastomeric film made of silicone, natural rubber or PUR, which has a purely elastic deformation.

Storage:
Protect from daylight/UV radiation, do not store below 60 % humidity and at room temperature.
