Lightweight E-glass surfacing veil for high-quality composite components
The Optiveil™ glass veil 17 g/m² is a high-quality wet-laid nonwoven made from short E-glass fibres and developed specifically for use in advanced composite structures. Its uniform fibre distribution and highly porous structure provide excellent resin uptake and even wet-out.
Due to its low areal weight, the glass veil is particularly suitable as a lightweight surface layer in GRP, CFRP and other fibre-reinforced laminates. It supports the formation of a uniform, resin-rich surface and can therefore help to improve the surface quality of the finished component.
Optiveil™ glass veil can be used with all common composite manufacturing processes, including hand lay-up, vacuum infusion, RTM, RIM, compression moulding, filament winding and pultrusion. The veil can also be used as a lightweight carrier for resins, adhesives and other functional materials.
Its good temperature and corrosion resistance, high thermal stability and dielectric properties make the glass veil suitable for numerous applications in model making, mould making, boatbuilding, automotive engineering, aerospace and industrial lightweight construction.
