Very lightweight surface veil: The Optiveil® E-glass veil with a weight of only 17 g/m² is used as a thin surface layer in fibre-reinforced laminates. It absorbs resin evenly, creates a fine, resin-rich surface layer and helps reduce print-through of coarser reinforcement structures on the component surface.
Suitable for epoxy and polyester resins.
The Optiveil® E-glass veil 17 g/m² is a wet-laid veil made from short E-glass fibres. Its uniform fibre distribution and open structure allow fast and even wet-out with the selected resin system.
When used as a surface layer, the veil is positioned directly beneath the component surface. Due to its low weight of 17 g/m², it adds only minimal laminate thickness and weight. It is therefore particularly suitable for lightweight GRP and CFRP components where a uniform surface finish is required.
Optiveil® can also be used as a lightweight carrier and stabilising veil, for example for resins and adhesives or in combination with dry fabrics, non-crimp fabrics and UD materials.

Processing
The veil can be used for hand laminating, vacuum infusion, RTM, compression moulding, filament winding and pultrusion. When used as a surface veil, it should be fully impregnated with resin and incorporated into the laminate without wrinkles.
