UP Pre-gel white + MEKP Hardener

UP Pre-gel white + MEKP Hardener

UP topcoat system for epoxy laminates and GRP components

This work pack combines white UP surface coat resin (swab/brush grade, approx. RAL 9010) with a universal MEKP hardener (50% methyl ethyl ketone peroxide) for reliable cold curing of polyester resins.

The thixotropic, paraffin-free polyester topcoat cures tack-free and is designed for smooth, white surface layers in combination with epoxy resin laminates. It can also be used as a topcoat on fully cured laminates. Not suitable for parts that are permanently exposed to water.

The low-viscosity, colourless MEKP hardener—used with the cobalt accelerator already contained in the resin—supports an even, low-stress cure.

Typical applications

  • White surface layers on epoxy resin laminates
  • GRP parts in vehicle and mould construction
  • Repair and maintenance work
  • Hand lay-up and spray-up processes

Key technical features

  • Thixotropic, non-sag
  • Tack-free cure, paraffin-free
  • Cobalt pre-accelerated
  • MEKP hardener for controlled cold curing
  • Consumption (approx. 0.4 mm layer thickness): approx. 0.5 kg/m²

Processing

MEKP mixing ratio: 1–3%
Pot life (at 2% MEKP, 20 °C): approx. 15–20 minutes
Epoxy laminate can be applied after: approx. 2–24 hours
Processing temperature: ≥ 18 °C

Dose components separately. If an additional accelerator is required, always mix it into the resin before adding MEKP. Avoid direct contact between accelerator and MEKP.

Sale to persons aged 18+ only.
