The R&G metal spring roller is designed for deaerating and compacting fibre-reinforced wet laminates. Its flexible spring structure adapts to the surface contour during use.
The roller is particularly suitable for glass fibre mats and heavier glass fabrics. The open spring structure allows effective pressure to be applied to the laminate while maintaining good contact with uneven surfaces. This makes it especially useful for working thicker and more voluminous reinforcements into the mould surface.
As the roller passes over the wet laminate, trapped air is worked out and the glass fibre reinforcement is pressed evenly into place. At the same time, the roller helps distribute the laminating resin throughout the reinforcement and contributes to a compact, thoroughly impregnated laminate structure.
The spring roller is especially effective on curved, uneven and lightly structured mould surfaces. While rigid deaeration rollers may only make limited contact on changing contours, the flexible spring can adapt more closely to the surface.

When is a spring roller particularly useful?
A spring roller is especially advantageous when relatively bulky glass fibre reinforcements are processed on curved or irregular surfaces. The flexible roller adapts to the contour and therefore remains in contact with the laminate over a larger area.
