CARBOWEAVE® UMS Carbon NCF 56 g/m² (biaxial), 60 x 310 cm
Due to a worldwide shortage of raw materials, there is, unfortunately, a delay in the delivery of this item.
Ultra-light triaxial carbon fibre non-crimp fabric based on advanced spread-tow technology for high-stiffness and torsion-loaded lightweight structures. The very uniform fibre distribution and the nearly crimp-free structure enable highly efficient utilization of the mechanical properties of the carbon fibres.
Fiber: Tenax® UMS40, 24k / 800 tex
UMS carbon fibers (Ultra High Modulus) are suitable for applications with particularly high stiffness requirements.
The triaxial fabric consists of three unidirectional layers in the orientations +/-45° and 0°, fixed with an epoxy-compatible binder. Due to the low fibre waviness, the fiber properties are utilized very efficiently. At the same time, drapability is significantly improved compared to conventional non-crimp fabrics with stitching yarn grids.
Technical Data
- Width: 60 cm
- Length: 310 cm
- Areal weight: 56 g/m²
- Construction: +/- 45° / 0° or -/+ 45° / 0°
Properties
- Very high stiffness due to UMS fibre
- Triaxial structure for combined bending and torsional loads
- Very uniform fibre distribution
- Nearly crimp-free fiber orientation
- Improved drapability compared to conventional stitched non-crimp fabrics
- High material efficiency due to low fiber waviness
- Improved laminate surface quality
Applications
- Model aircraft construction, e.g. fuselages, wings and tail units
- Motorsports
- Sports equipment manufacturing
- Thin-walled components with high bending and torsional stiffness
- Longitudinal members, spars and other load-bearing structures
The +/-45° layers primarily improve torsional stiffness, while the 0° layer contributes to high bending stiffness. This makes the material particularly suitable for stiff yet lightweight constructions.
Processing Notes
In very thin components, such as trailing edges of wings or tail units in model aircraft, warping may occur if mirrored or symmetrical laminate layups are not used. For this reason, we offer Tenax® UMS40 types in both +/-45° / 0° and -/+45° / 0° fibre orientations.
A symmetrical laminate structure is recommended for dimensionally stable and distortion-free results.
Typical Values for Hand Laminates
At a fibre volume content of approx. 35 %, the following guideline values apply:
- Resin consumption: approx. 67 g/m²
- Laminate thickness: approx. 0.09 mm
- Laminate weight: approx. 123 g/m²
