The R&G aluminium deaeration roller with longitudinal grooves is a proven laminating tool for processing fibre-reinforced wet laminates. Especially with glass fibre reinforcements, the rigid profiled aluminium roller allows intensive and controlled processing of the wet laminate.
The pronounced longitudinal grooves transfer pressure directly into the reinforcement. As the roller passes over the laminate, the fibre layers and resin are pressed against the mould surface while trapped air between the fibres and individual laminate layers is worked towards the surface.
The roller is particularly suitable for glass fibre mats as well as medium and heavy glass fabrics and non-crimp fabrics. Its rigid aluminium construction also allows effective compaction of thicker laminate build-ups.
With a working width of 70 mm, the roller provides a good balance between surface coverage and controlled handling. It is particularly suitable for flat and slightly curved surfaces as well as medium-sized components. For tight internal radii, corners or narrow recesses, dedicated edge or radius rollers are more suitable.

When is this roller particularly useful?
The longitudinally grooved aluminium roller is especially suitable for glass fibre laminates where intensive deaeration and compaction are required. The 70 mm wide roller is easy to control while still providing good surface coverage for medium-sized and larger laminating work.
Note on carbon fabrics:
When working with sensitive carbon fabrics, profiled aluminium rollers should only be used with light pressure. The pronounced grooves can disturb fibre orientation or distort the weave pattern if excessive pressure is applied. For high-quality visible carbon laminates, less aggressive roller profiles are often the better choice.
