Aluminium Barrel Roller
Barrel-shaped aluminium deaeration roller for curved surfaces, radii and contoured mould areas.
The special roller geometry allows controlled deaeration and compaction of glass fibre wet laminates, particularly where cylindrical rollers cannot maintain optimum contact on curved surfaces.
The R&G aluminium deaeration roller for radii is specifically designed for hand laminating on curved and contoured mould surfaces. The roller has a barrel-shaped profile, with a larger diameter in the centre than at the outer edges.
This geometry makes it easier to work the reinforcement accurately into curved mould contours. As the roller passes over the wet laminate, the glass fibre reinforcement is pressed against the mould surface while trapped air is worked out of the laminate.
The roller is particularly suitable for glass fibre mats as well as medium and heavy glass fabrics. With these reinforcements, the rigid aluminium roller provides effective compaction and supports uniform resin impregnation.
The 50 mm working width provides a good balance between efficient surface coverage and precise handling. This makes the roller suitable for smaller components as well as for local radii and contoured sections within larger moulds.

When is this roller particularly useful?
A cylindrical deaeration roller is usually the first choice for flat surfaces. On curved or changing contours, however, the barrel-shaped roller allows more precise guidance and makes it easier to press the reinforcement evenly against the mould surface.
