EP-Gelcoat colourless NOVA + Hardener L (40 min)
The image shows four containers of chemical products, including EP Gelcoat Colorless NOVA and Hardener L. The containers have white labels with blue and red lettering. They are intended for use with epoxy resins.
New

Set of two components:
700 g and 1.4 kg

EP-Gelcoat colourless NOVA + Hardener L (40 min)

  • New, optimized formula for the EP Gelcoat*
  • Translucent (not transparent)
  • Can be dyed with colour pastes
  • Thixotropic (non-drip)
  • Manufactured under vacuum, so optimally free of air bubbles and homogeneous
  • No permanent resistance to UV light (yellowing does occur), it therefore should be protected, where appropriate, against UV radiation with an additional coating (clear coat or opaque paint)

This colourless, non-drip formulated gelcoat can be dyed opaque with our Universal Colour Pastes and transparent/translucent with our Transparent Colours.

Processing:

Mixing ratio: 100 : 40 parts by weight of EP Gelcoat colourless NOVA to Hardener L
Processing time:
40 minutes

Maximum layer thickness: 0.2 mm, otherwise runoff on vertical surfaces is possible

Consumption: approx. 0.25 kg/m²

To be applicated by brush, roller or spatula.

Technical notes:

  1. New, enhanced hardener quality: free of Nonyl phenol and DETA.

  2. *New, optimized formula for EP gelcoat

The colourless the EP Gelcoat NOVA is based on a new formula that has been optimized with preventive health protection in mind. By eliminating potentially harmful reactive thinners, handling is safer for the processor. At the same time, the mechanical properties of the resin are improved—especially hardness and heat resistance.

Mono- and difunctional reactive thinners are commonly used to reduce the viscosity of epoxy resins. However, they also reduce the concentration of reactive epoxy groups, which leads to a lower cross-link density in the cured material. A reduced cross-link density makes the material less rigid and resistant – the hardness decreases.

Heat resistance, especially the glass transition temperature (Tg), is also directly dependent on the crosslink density. Reactive diluents can significantly lower the Tg because they make the polymer network less rigid. The absence of these additives in EP Gelcoat colourless NOVA therefore results in higher material hardness and significantly improves temperature resistance.

Storage/shelf life:

In unopened containers at 20-25 °C 12 months.
