MATERIAL TO AEROSPACE SPECIFICATION
Style 493 Aero is manufactured from TORAYCA® T300B carbon fibres. At just 68 g/m², it is one of the lightest conventional woven carbon fabrics. The fine 1k yarns and balanced plain weave with 5 × 5 ends/cm produce a uniform fabric structure with comparatively good dimensional stability. Its low areal weight allows laminate thickness to be tailored precisely with minimal additional weight.

Properties and processing
The low areal weight enables exceptionally thin laminate plies and precise control of wall thickness and local reinforcement. The balanced plain weave provides uniform fibre distribution in warp and weft and helps limit yarn displacement during cutting and positioning.
Low-viscosity epoxy laminating resin systems are recommended to achieve complete fibre wet-out. The lightweight fabric should be cut and positioned carefully to minimise distortion and yarn displacement. The plain weave is well suited to flat and gently curved components, while drapability is limited around tight radii and complex double-curved surfaces.
